FREIbad Plötzensee – ein See für Alle!
Der Plötzensee ist ein öffentlicher See. Trotzdem ist Baden nur im kostenpflichtigen Strandbad erlaubt. Wer an anderen Uferbereichen badet, muss mit Bußgeldern von über 200 € rechnen. Doch gerade in Zeiten des Klimawandels ist der Zugang zu kühlen Gewässern auch eine soziale Frage. Wir setzen uns deshalb dafür ein, dass der Plötzensee für alle zugänglich wird!

Aktuelle Situation
Aktuell ist Baden nur im Strandbad Plötzensee erlaubt. An allen anderen Uferbereichen des Sees ist Baden verboten, um die Natur zu schützen. Wer dort badet, muss mit Bußgeldern von über 200 € rechnen. Das Schwimmen am Steingarten schützt die empfindlichen Uferzonen und wird daher geduldet, aber diese Duldung ist nicht offiziell und der Zugang zum See ist nicht für alle Menschen sicher.
Wir unterstützen den Schutz der Natur und begrüßen die Renaturierung des Sees. Gleichzeitig sind wir überzeugt, dass Naturschutz und öffentlicher Zugang zusammen funktionieren können. Wenige gut geplante und offizielle Badestellen könnten Besucher*innen gezielt lenken und empfindliche Uferbereiche besser schützen als ein nahezu flächendeckendes Badeverbot.
Dabei geht es auch um soziale Gerechtigkeit: Nicht alle können oder wollen regelmäßig 10 € Eintritt bezahlen, nur um kurz schwimmen zu gehen. Öffentliche Seen sollten allen Menschen offenstehen – unabhängig vom Geldbeutel.

FREIbad Plötzensee
Plötzensee is a public lake. Nevertheless, swimming is only permitted at the paid lido. Anyone swimming at other parts of the shore can face fines of more than €200. But especially in times of climate change, access to cool bodies of water is also a matter of social justice. That’s why we are advocating for Plötzensee to be accessible to everyone!

Current situation
At present, swimming is only permitted at Strandbad Plötzensee. Swimming is prohibited at all other parts of the lake’s shoreline in order to protect nature. Anyone swimming there can face fines of more than €200. Swimming at the Steingarten is tolerated because it helps protect sensitive shoreline areas, but this tolerance is not official, and access to the lake is not safe or secure for everyone.
We support the protection of nature and welcome the renaturalization of the lake. At the same time, we are convinced that nature conservation and public access can go hand in hand. A few well-planned and officially designated swimming areas could direct visitors to specific locations and protect sensitive shoreline areas more effectively than an almost blanket swimming ban.
This is also a matter of social justice: not everyone can or wants to regularly pay €10 just to go for a quick swim. Public lakes should be open to everyone – regardless of their income.

- -Protect sensitive shoreline areas through visitor guidance rather than blanket bans
- -Short-term tickets and lower prices at Strandbad Plötzensee – hold Berliner Bäder-Betriebe accountable!
